KASIA HOPE

Tata (“Dad”)

This fabric was an exploration of my relationship with my father, especially the periods of his absence. I used repeat to allude to the repetition of key memories that go through my mind regularly and affect who I am today. After weaving, I went into some of the figures and needle-felted the same mohair onto them, effectively erasing them from the image. Sometimes my father is gone, sometimes I am, and sometimes we both are. Additionally, I brushed out areas of the mohair to create vagueness. This breaks up the repeat of the pattern and speaks to the nature of our relationship.
